Installation and Updates

    To install DropIt

Download and launch the DropIt Setup Package.

Install to the default Program Files folder, or browse to choose a different location.

Optionally, create shortcuts on Start Menu, Desktop, Quick Launch bar.

Optionally, integrate DropIt in Windows Explorer Context Menu.

(SendTo integration for Installed and Portable DropIt is handled from Program Options menu.)

Settings files are stored in the user's Application Data folder.

    To uninstall DropIt

You can uninstall DropIt in any of the following ways:

––  From the Control Panel

––  From the Start Menu shortcut  DropIt > Uninstall
(if shortcut was installed)

––  By launching the uninstaller included in the DropIt folder

This removes DropIt program files, installed shortcut icons, and registry entries.

    DropIt for portable use

DropIt Portable can be used from a removable drive, and leaves no traces behind on the host computer.

To Install:  Download the DropIt Portable Package and extract to a folder of your choice.  Settings files are stored in the DropIt folder.  No changes are made to the registry or system folders.

To Uninstall:  If you used Shell Integration in the Options dialog, uncheck settings to remove "Startup" and "SendTo" links.  Then exit DropIt, and simply delete the application folder.

    Update DropIt

The newest stable version of DropIt is always available from the DropIt webpage, as well as older versions, and the source code.

To be sure you always have the current version, select DropIt context menu Help >> About >> Check Update (requires internet connection).  Confirm to accept the auto-update; your settings and profiles will not be affected.
